Last night at Hull New Theatre I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the world premiere of Steve Steinman’s Vampires Rock, Eternal Love the Musical, and what a treat it was! I’ve not seen any of the other shows that they have done and didn’t quite know what to expect but what I watched was brilliant. Steve is an excellent songwriter, these were all original songs from two of his albums, and as a fan of rock music I really enjoyed listening to them. It is difficult to know where to start with the experience that was Eternal Love at Darlington Hippodrome last evening. There is a quote on the front of the beautifully glossy official brochure which announces the show to be ‘Fantastic, sexy and very funny’ but I feel that it misses out the more glaringly obvious ‘wacky, zany and utterly bonkers.’ Steve Steinman is of course the man in charge of the production as he is credited as no less than writer, director, producer and set designer and his vision is quite something. Last night I headed to the Whitley Bay Playhouse to see Steve Steinman’s Anything For Love. I’d seen the show before at the Birmingham Alexandra, back when Trixie Bell was in the cast, but this time brought some fresh faces and a few fiery surprises. It’s a beautiful crisp afternoon as we leave stroke city to make our way to the big smoke aka Belfast, for tonight’s entertainment. Being big fans of theatrical shows my Mum and myself are very excited to see Steve Steinman’s ‘Like A Bat Out Of hell: Anything for Love – The Meatloaf Story’.
